Green Hotel Prague - Choice for the Future

More and more guests are taking ecological parameters of a hotel into consideration when choosing a place to stay. Environmentally friendly behaviour is becoming a matter of course, just like good education or language literacy. Therefore green hotels, which use energy effectively and are attentive to the environment, are likely to become the choice for the future. To us, a perfect example of this trend is Western Europe. Although green hotels are not very popular in the Czech Republic yet, they are a huge hit in Germany, France and Great Britain.

The most prestigious certification of environmentally friendly hotels is The Flower. Not many accommodation facilities hold this ecolabel in the Czech Republic. In 2009 this unique certificate was awarded to our 4 star hotel Prague Alta Plaza , which after a complete renovation in 2007 has clearly demonstrated the way to combine comfortable accommodation and strict environmental protection measures.

How much different is a green hotel Prague? The entire philosophy as well as countless imperceptible details - everything is different. A considerable emphasis is laid on saving energy. The windows and the building enclosure are thermally insulated, heaters regulated, and the hotel is equipped with high-economy lights. All waste is sorted, including used fats and oils. 4 star hotel Prague does not offer any canned beverages - it uses returnable bottles only.

The economical regime also relates to drinking water. The flow of water from all taps in rooms is limited to less than ten litres per minute. Within the scope of its environmentally friendly strategy, Plaza Alta Hotel also cares for its surroundings. Among others, it has planted the unused space just in front of the hotel entrance with ornamental bushes and flowers.

The Flower ecolabel was established by the European Union in 1992. Its aim is to help consumers, both in Europe and worldwide, and to enable them to recognize green, environmentally friendly products and services.
