A new look of Ortenovo square (where the Hotel Plaza Alta is located)with Garden Butterfly sculpture made by the famous Brazilian artist Romero Britto. Opening ceremony with the attendance of the Brazilian ambassador George Monteiro Prata and the mayor of Prague 7 Marek Ječmének. The banquet took place at the restaurant 7 Tacos.
Plaza Alta Hotel and Restaurant 7 Tacos held a charity bazaar at its premises, which made 26 500 CZK . All proceeds were handed over to the civic association Cibela that supports dog and cat foster homes.
“In the context of sustainable development, our aim is to help the community on Prague 7. That is why we chose the local association Cibela that helps abandoned dogs and cats,” said Ivana Holubová, director of Plaza Alta Hotel.
The Plaza Alta Hotel and Restaurant 7 Tacos charity bazaar was held on the first day of spring, March 21st, 2014. People could bring their unwanted clothes, accessories, toys, jewellery and books to the hotel from the beginning of March. On the day of the bazaar, 7 Tacos also offered a special lemonade for 5 CZK, whose proceeds were also given to abandoned animals.
The 4 star Plaza Alta Hotel in Prague 7 has confirmed its high quality of environmentally friendly activities and obtained the EU Ecolabel Communication Award for 2012. The overall philosophy of Plaza Alta Hotel is focused on sustainable tourism movement. The hotel has gone beyond providing excellent and efficient accommodation services by encouraging the local community and hotel guests to join them in becoming more environmentally conscious as well. The EU Ecolabel Communication Award 2012 was taken over by Ivana Holubová, resident manager of Plaza Alta Hotel. The price was given by Pavel Hrubý from the Czech Environmental Information Agency and Daniel Hájek from the Ministry of Environment. “We inform our guests about our ecological efforts and they are proud to help us with waste sorting, water and energy saving, and heat regulating. As one of the 5 ecological thinking hotels in Prague, we clearly demonstrate how to combine comfortable accommodation and strict environmental protection measures,“ said Ivana Holubová, Resident Manager of the Plaza Alta Hotel. Plaza Alta Hotel has recognized the growing need and importance of the development in eco-tourism. Its goal was to inspire the clients and local community through various projects, one being the provision of recycling bins for a local school as well as free provision of bike transportation for hotel guests, proposing eco-friendly cosmetic products, as well as participation in Earth Day and Earth Hour events. About Plaza Alta Hotel So exactly how is a green hotel different? A great emphasis is put on saving energy. The windows and façade of the hotel are well insulated, the radiators are regulated and the hotel is equipped with energy-saving light sources. All waste is separated, including used oils and fats. In addition, Plaza Alta Hotel does not offer any drinks in cans, instead it exclusively uses returnable bottles. This economic system also applies to drinking water. All taps in rooms are flow-restricted to less than ten liters a minute. As part of its ecologically conscious strategy, Plaza Alta Hotel also looks after its surroundings and has planted shrubs in the unused area in front of the hotel entrance. In the hotel restaurant 7 Tacos, which offers Mexican specialties, you can find a selection of organic food. Hotel Plaza Alta has 87 modern rooms equipped with air conditioning. There is a free wireless internet connection available throughout the hotel. The hotel also features the new stylish “7 Tacos” restaurant, which offers authentic Mexican cuisine not only to its guests, but also to Prague residents.
On April 3, 2013, the Plaza Alta Hotel provided its conference room for a press conference held for the opening ceremony of the reconstruction of Ortenovo Square, where our hotel is located. Thanks to a renovation that includes the recovery of green space, a children's playground and the installation of new furnishings, we can all look forward to the beautiful environment of the park, which will be completed in about a year.
In recognition of the ecological celebration – March 23, 2013, “Earth Hour”, we at the Eco-labeled Plaza Alta Hotel decided to support the principles of this event by an hour of dimmed lights at the reception desk and in our restaurant. Candles were lit instead..
